Some journeys are defined by the moments you see. Others are shaped by everything you do not.
Recently, we had the chance to sit down with Josie Biehl and talk through the path that built her. It is a story grounded in resilience, identity, and quiet strength. A goalkeeper by trade, Biehl has risen from her adoption story through the U.S. Youth National Team system and into the USC Trojans women's soccer program. She has developed into a presence defined by composure and control. She reads the game with clarity, commands her box with authority, and delivers in the moments that matter most.
During our conversation, we explored her journey, her personal interests, and what continues to shape her both on and off the field. A budding star with a grounded perspective, Biehl brings a rare balance of confidence and humility to everything she does. Her path has never been linear, but that is what gives it meaning. Every step has added to a foundation that continues to grow, with her eyes set firmly on the highest level.
In short, what's been your journey to USC?
I started playing soccer at a very young age. I began my club journey with San Diego Surf my freshman year as well as my National Team journey. I committed to the University of Alabama during my sophomore year, confident it was the right path for my future. However, over the following year, new opportunities and growth led me to reevaluate my journey and ultimately change direction. Now, I'm at the University of Southern California, where I'm playing my freshman year and embracing this new chapter.
What are the different clubs and teams you have played for?
Growing up I played for LA Galaxy, and then I moved to San Diego Surf.
What made you choose USC?
I chose USC because it felt like the perfect place to grow both as an athlete and as a person, surrounded by a culture that pushes for excellence in everything. The competition and expectations here challenge me every day on the field to elevate my game, while off the field I'm pushed academically and personally to become the best version of myself. USC truly believes in greatness, and being in that environment motivates me to live up to that standard and chase it every day.

It's been an incredible experience that has allowed me to compete at the highest level and travel the world, representing my country.
How was it going to preseason and training with San Diego Wave?
My experience with the San Diego Wave FC during preseason was an incredible opportunity to learn from some of the best players and coaches in the game. Being in that environment pushed me to grow, compete, and soak in every moment. Getting to do it all in Coachella made it even more special, creating memories I'll carry with me for a lifetime.

When it's all said and done, what do you want your legacy to be on and off the pitch?
I want my legacy to be about more than just what I accomplish on the field. I want it to inspire young girls who look like me to believe in themselves and their dreams. I hope they see my journey and understand that no goal is too big, and no path is out of reach if they're willing to work for it. If I can show even one girl that she's capable of doing anything she sets her mind to, then everything I'm doing will mean so much more.
